Ajay Raw is one of SXM’s top-ranked house music DJs. His eclectic style is a masterful blend of the European, Dutch & French cultures of his home, St. Maarten/St. Martin, with an inevitable infusion of his Caribbean island heritage. He has made people move to his deliciously unique sound at parties all around the USA, Europe, and the Caribbean.
 

DJ Ajay Raw has played the main stage at SXM Festival, one of the world's leading underground electronic music festivals where he has shared the stage with the likes of Marco Carola, Blond:ish, SiS, Doc Martim, Moody Jones and Paso Doble, to name but a few. These days, Ajay Raw is most known for throwing SXM's legendary ELEV8 hilltop parties on Sentry Hill, where he is the Creative Director and driving force of these sold-out parties but also the resident DJ.  This year Ajay had the pleasure of hosting and playing alongside Sebastien Leger at ELEV8!

In his early childhood, exposure to an eclectic combination of Disco & Funk and synth-infused 80's music laid the foundation for his eternal love of tribal, deep, and progressive house. Ajaw Raw's house music influences include Roger Sanchez, Carl Cox, Erick Morillo, John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold, and Sasha in his early years... to Black Coffee, Lee Burridge, Matan Caspi, Sebastian Leger, Sam Shure, and Luciano today. This directly translates into his infectiously groovy sets, which are a perfect infusion of melodic, organic house with jacking backdrops, groovy basslines, and occasional sexy vocal hooks often underscored with an afro or soca house beat. Tours in Ibiza and Tulum have added a touch of Balearic grooves and Bohemian vibes to his ever-evolving musical journey.

Don’t let his island roots fool you though, Ajay Raw is no stranger to the big city vibe! He has rocked the capital city of Washington DC’s underground house music scene from 1999-2003 prior to moving back to SXM, regularly playing in iconic clubs like Andalu, Eighteenth Street Lounge (ESL), and Modern, as well as for the legendary Buzz parties at Nation.

Although he loves spinning at festivals, nightclubs, and beach clubs, his passion for music has naturally progressed beyond the spectrum of DJing. The last couple of years have seen Ajay in the studio as a producer (and musical promoter) for the Ministry of Sound, along with his producing partner, Jayson Miro. Together, they were nominated in 2017 for an Independent Music Award in the category of Dance/Electronic for their release of ‘So Deep in Love’ on indie record label SXM Records. This track saw radio airplay and online streaming in over 30 countries worldwide.

The future is looking stellar for DJ Ajay Raw, with new releases in the pipeline and a European tour in the works, as well as the strategically planned expansion of the ELEV8 brand of parties globally!
